Foamy hot tub is one of the most common issues we see on hot tubs. But what is causing this problem? Well, this happens due to different elements such as laundry detergents, shampoo, soap, and more. If you want to get rid of this foamy issue, keep on reading further below to find out how you can solve this issue.

What are the causes of foamy hot tub water and its remedy?

Here are the reasons why your hot tub water is getting foamy:

  1. Laundry Detergents - One of the reasons why your hot tub becomes foamy is because of the laundry detergent on your clothes. This is because the detergent comes out of your clothing when you are in hot tubs. To get rid of the excessive foam on your hot tub water, hand wash or rinse your swimsuit after use in your hot tub. Doing this will help ensure that none of the detergent seeps into your hot tub.

  1. Cosmetics such as Deodorants, Shampoo, and Soap - Aside from laundry detergents, these cosmetics can also make your tub foamy and cloudy. If you want to keep your hot tub from being foamy better rinse off in the shower first before getting in the hot tub.

  1. Spilled Foods or Drinks - Drinking and eating while on a hot tub can be totally relaxing. But if you accidentally spilled your food or drinks on your hot tub, it will make it cloudy and foamy. To avoid this from happening, better avoid bringing food and beverages while on hot tub or better use plastic drink wares with lid to avoid it from getting spilled.

  1. Cheap Chemicals - Cheap products often contain cheap chemicals which can make your hot tub to foam. This is because these products have additional and unnecessary fillers. To avoid having foamy hot tubs, avoid buying cheap products that contains cheap chemicals and instead buy from a trustworthy hot tub source to avoid unwanted sud on your hot tub spa.

  1. Low Calcium Hardness - Low calcium levels can damage your equipment as well as decrease the surface tension in the water which may create an excessive sudsing on your hot tub. To prevent this from happening, go use a hardness test strips to check and maintain its calcium hardness every once a week. If the result is low, use a calcium hardness increaser.

No matter what is the reason for the suds on your hot tub, the best solution is to always keep your hot tub well-maintained and clean. Do this regularly to treat it and to keep the suds and foams from returning. If you are looking for hot tub services, just feel free to contact us any day and anytime you want.
